What is Expressive and Arts-Based Healing?

Using different creative modalities such as paint, clay, colour pencils, pastels, photographs, ect ... you are offered an opportunity to deepen into connection with yourself and your inner world . This process can cultivate greater self awareness, self compassion and self acceptance. It can be like a wordless expression for our often wordless experiences.

It is not painting a picture. It is not art class. It’s not about being artistic. It is about using a process to heal and explore and find empowerment and integration for your whole self using line, shade, colour, sounds and movement. It helps us to integrate our parts into a more cohesive whole using elements of sensation, image, body behaviour, affect and meaning making.

What if I am not artistic?

You don’t need to be artistic to express yourself. You are here to listen you your body, mind and spirit a be guided to allow what wants to be expressed, to be expressed, without judgment. It is less about craft and so much more about self connection and individual expression.

What happens in a session?

You are invited into a comfortable space where you can settle and connect with yourself, your feelings and your needs. You are guided though a gentle exercise to allow safety, trust, relaxation and self connection. Use a variety of textures, colours and paints you and guided through a process to support your underlying feelings and needs and move towards wholeness & healing. Using inquiry and reflection there is opportunity for discussing what has arisen and what meaning may be made of the experience for you.
